🌿 Grant Opportunity: Biodiversity Media Reporting
Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is accepting applications for projects designed to improve biodiversity reporting in low- and middle-income countries. This initiative addresses the current 30:1 ratio of investment in activities harmful to biodiversity versus conservation efforts.

Grant Overview
Grant Amount: 10,000-12,000 EUR per project.
Number of Awards: 3-4 organizations.
Duration: 12 months (May 2026 – April 2027).
Target Regions: Countries classified as low- or middle-income by the World Bank.
Eligibility Criteria
Qualified Entities: Media organizations, journalist networks, journalism schools, and academic institutions.
Exclusions: Organizations awarded EJN grants in 2025 are ineligible. Projects focused on advocacy or political campaigning will not be considered.
Language Requirement: Applications must be submitted in English. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency or have dedicated translation support for communication with EJN.
Project Requirements
Thematic Focus: Priority is given to projects covering OECMs (30×30 target), business impact on nature, nature-based solutions, and the biodiversity-health nexus.
Content Volume: For content-only proposals, a minimum of 10 robust outputs (e.g., investigative series, podcasts) is required.
Outputs: May include transboundary reporting, workshops, field trips, e-learning tools, data visualization, or the establishment of storytelling platforms.
Technical & Compliance Mandates
Budgeting: Proposals must include a detailed budget using the provided template. Cost-effectiveness and financial viability are key evaluation metrics.
AI Transparency: Applicants must disclose the use of generative AI in proposal development. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
Safety: Grantees must maintain a risk management plan for physical, digital, and mental health security.
Rights & Attributions: Internews and EJN retain the rights to edit and distribute all produced materials. Published work must include the mandatory support tagline.
