Nature Knows No Borders: Regional Cooperation for Ecological Connectivity in Central Asia

The Side Event will explore how regional cooperation, ecological connectivity and climate-smart landscape planning can contribute to the priorities of the GEF, including biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable land management across Central Asia.

It will showcase practical experiences and tools developed under the Central Asian Mammals Initiative (CAMI), including key outcomes of the Central Asian Mammals and Climate Adaptation (CAMCA) project. The event will also present the Ustyurt Memorandum as a regional model for transboundary wildlife conservation and ecological connectivity across the Ustyurt Plateau.

The Side Event is jointly organized by the Michael Succow Foundation, CMS within the UNEP project “Central Asian Mammals and Climate Adaptation” and IUCN project “One Health in Nature Conservation in Central Asia”. Both projects are funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of German Government.
